I was born a rambler....

I posted another message on the front of my page, but I figured I'd put up a journal entry too just in case anyone actually still watches my journal....

Sorry I disappeared for almost 2 years, I really haven't had access to a computer and I'm actually taking a risk using one now, because I'm really not supposed to at all.

But yeah, I've been traveling all this time, across the United States. I'm what most people would call a "Door-to-Door Solicitor". I sell magazines and a shit ton of them I might add. I'm one of the "high-ball" agents and sell thousands of dollars in magazines each week. Hard to believe huh? But it's fucking awesome and I love it. But now that I'm higher in the company, I decided I'd give everyone a heads up. I don't really get a chance to contact anyone because I'm too busy training other people and handling cars and other business that I hardly have any time for myself.

But don't worry, I still draw and everything. I just have no way of putting it up here. It's mostly just quick little pen or pencil doodles because I seriously never have time. Man, I can't type, it's been so long! But yeah. I'm alive, I'm well, making money, and having a really good time. I've been to almost 30 different states and talked to people of all walks of life. It's amazing.

Anyway, I can't stay long, I'm supposed to be out selling people as I type. I love you guys even though I'm sure most of you absolutely hate me for disappearing without a trace. I understand. But I miss you all a lot and still remember all the good times.

You all take care of yourselves. Maybe I'll see you soon. One can never tell.

See ya on the flip side!

So my lovelies!

Yes, I did do another disappearing act. With so many perhaps I should contemplate the Illusionist profession. But anyway, I figured that now that things have settled down in my life once more, I should update everyone who maybe, perhaps, still looks at my art or reads my page or whatever on what the hell is going on.

Ok.

Where to begin.

Hmmm....

Well I broke up with my fiance of 3 years back in February. It was really messy and consumed my life for quite a bit. Details needn't be discussed, it's in the past, and that's where it's going to stay. It's over.

After that I moved into my grandparents' house and have been living here rather internet-less for the past few months. They have a REALLY crappy 56K dial-up connection that makes me want to gouge my eyes out every time I use it.

I was really upset at life and decided to kinda tear everything down and try and rebuild it from the ground up. So I started a part-time job at Hot Topic, making no money, but at least I was enjoying what I was doing and MOST of the people I was working with. There was an awful assistant manager that was there, but that comes later.

So I dated around a bit, nothing really that I wanted, but I felt the need for companionship. Found one guy that I was kinda seeing exclusively for the most part, but we never were 'together' or boyfriend/girlfriend. We weren't even really compatible. But it was kinda fun when it wasn't awkward or hurtful. Worked on occasion. Pissed my grandparents off a lot, I have a knack for it. Hung out with my friends a lot. Kinda just slummed around and didn't really do anything constructive for awhile.

Then I applied at Lenscrafter under the guidance of the Retail Supervisor there named Charles. Extremely well-spoken gentleman in his early 50's who would adjust and wash my glasses for me every once in awhile when I'd walk in. Well I did. I got an interview. The Retail manager and I hit it off 5 minutes into the interview and spent most of the time just talking and not really interviewing. Then I didn't hear from them for a few weeks.

In that time I got to talking with two friends of mine, Richard and Leilani, (married couple) that I hadn't hung out with in a while. They invited me to go to dinner with them and I agreed, and then they mentioned that there would be another person with them, Richard's best friend Adam. That didn't bother me. I knew of Adam (all four of us went to high school together), and while I was pretty sure that Adam wasn't really fond of me, I'm generally easy going. We all went to dinner at a nice sushi house and had an absolutely MARVELOUS time. We all laughed soooo hard. But as the situation went, Adam was on leave from Kuwait (on the last leg of his deployment for the National Guard) and just visiting for two weeks. Well one thing led to another and it's funny when love hits you at the strangest times....But was meant to be a fling turned into SO much more.

SO! I ended up spending two wonderful weeks with Adam; meeting all his friends and his family, and falling in love every second I spent around him. And in that two weeks I also landed the job at Lenscrafter. New job, new boyfriend, new start!

Somewhere in this story I finally got internet hooked up downstairs in my room. Clearwire ftw! That's a moot point though.

So now Adam's in Iraq, playing soldier (even though he hates it) and we talk on the phone and internet every chance we get. He get's back at the beginning of October (5th I think it is) and then we plan on picking up exactly where we left off in those magnificent two weeks we spent together.

At the moment I've just been working. It's been great at Lenscrafter so far. I spent my first day watching boring training CD's on a computer, stuck in a back room. Then I got stuck in the doctor's office learning to do screenings, make appointments, and take preliminary eye tests, etc. Everyone was really impressed because I learned how to do almost all of it in 2 days. Then I finally got to go out on the sales floor (I applied to be a Sales Associate, so this was really where I was supposed to be), and in 3 days I outsold one of my Retail Managers. So the job is going amazing. This is my first day off after 8 days straight of working (on Sunday I worked 11 hours, two jobs, go me!) and so I figured I'd try and get things cleaned up a bit and maybe go through and see if I have any art worth uploading now that my computer is all set up. I think I'll be spending a LOT of time going through my billions of messages and what not on here. I really need to stop with the lengthy "vacations" from here. I really apologize to all those who I owe art to. I'm also missing a sketchbook, which I can hopefully get back at some point. It accidentally got left at a party >.<

So yeah. That's kinda what's been going on with me for the past few months I've been gone.....in case anyone is really interested....

I miss Adam.....*pout*

Oh yeah! About the assistant manager I mentioned earlier! Well, while I was working at Hot Topic, there was this girl who was absolutely miserable and awful and she took it out on everyone else that was around her, ESPECIALLY me. Well she wanted to be store manager (our previous store manager quit and she was acting until we got a new one), but Hot Topic brought in another lady named Heather. Super nice, super fun, high-energy and such a sweetheart. Love Heather to death. <3 Needless to say, the girl didn't get the job, nor was she ever going to. She threw a fit and ended up quitting recently. Of course it didn't hurt my feelings and I wasn't gonna shed a tear for her. EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE was over joyed to see her leave.

I mean, why would I be sad about it? I spent the last month and a half choking down her shit with a nod and a smile! Even Heather told me, "Darby, I want to thank you for being so professional with her, because in the 10 or so total hours I watched you two work together, I saw her come down on you the hardest. She was picking on you hardcore!" And she did! She would bitch at me for anything, especially because I was popular and had a lot of friends coming into the store. Now I can see the problem if I stopped working all together and just stood there and talked to my friends, but I still did my job (greeting other customers, asking if they needed help, folding clothes, etc.) as my friends talked to me. Not to mention my friends BOUGHT stuff there. At one point I sold ONE friend $200 or more worth of Hot Topic merchandise! And she was REALLY rude to them too. The worse part is I would watch her sit on the cashwrap (counter with the registers) and talk to her boyfriend, not doing a damn thing, and that was ok. But if I had a friend come into the store and talk to me for a few minutes, while I was folding clothes, she was throw a fit at me. Whatever. She's gone. Good riddins. Now working there, the one day a week that I do, is infinitely more fun!

-The End

Yeah. I still miss Adam. LOTS! *whimper*

Ok. I'm in need of a bit of venting. I just got a new waitressing job where there isn't any uniform really. The girls all just dress nice and are pretty much allowed to wear what they want....

Here's my dilemna: My bosses want me to dress similar to the rest of my co-workers and I'd happily oblige; except for the fact that if I wore anything like what these girls are wearing, I'd have a ton of cleavage pouring out the top - therefore looking "unprofessional". All the girls I work with (even my boss and manager) are rather.....how do I put this delicately....um...flatchested? I think the one closest to me is a C cup... and here I am with DD's. Most of them are maybe between and A and a B... So I suppose it irks me a little because perhaps without knowing it, they've put a double standard on me. They can wear what they want (even low cut shirts) and get away with because they really don't have anything to show off, where as if I wore the same thing, my bosses would jump down my throat and probably send me home (or even fire me).

It's hard enough to find clothes that fit me anyway, but to find dress clothes that look nice (and FIT!) that don't show off my cleavage is exponentially hard.

Which brings me to my next problem: Lack of money in which to finance such a wardrobe.

Third problem: I'm sure you're wondering why I just don't bring this issue up with my boss? Because she's flatchested too and I seriously doubt that she'd understand my plight here. Her husband (the owner) probably even less so.

So. I'm not sure if I'm ranting about having big boobs or bitching about how the hell I managed to find myself in a confined workspace with a bunch of flatchested girls....or how fashion sucks and I wish I had the money to afford a tailor >o>;

Whatever. I'm just annoyed with the whole situation because here I am busting my ass to learn how to serve, memorize the menu and prices, as well as memorize abbreviations and all my side duties and keep up with bussing all my tables and what not.......and they're riding me about what I'm wearing because it doesn't look "professional enough".....a.k.a. doesn't look like what ever other girl working there is wearing......

I mean, after having 3 days of training (about 14 hours total) I had 4 tables to myself yesterday and kept up most of the time. This is coming from next to know experience serving or anything. So I thought I was doing pretty good. *flops* I even made $75 dollars in tips!

*sighs* Well I have today and tomorrow to figure something out I suppose.

First off: Happy New Years everyone! May this year be better than the last!

So. It finally happened. The holidays were going far to smooth for me to be comfortable and something finally went wrong. Which is ok. It was eventually somewhat fixed in the end and I'm still happy. I still got to kiss Kyle at midnight *smiles*.

There was no dancing dancing until 1 AM. There wasn't any fancy clothes or champagne. There was no hotel or ridiculously expensive dinner....

And even though I was looking forward to it all, I wouldn't have changed last night for the world.

We stayed home. I made a really nice curry for dinner. We had some Martinelli's Sparkling Apple-Marionberry Cider.....and watched Lucky Number Slevin and Sleep Hollow. We just hung out and enjoyed eachother's company without having to worry about how we looked or who we were trying to impress. We kissed as the year changed and sealed the deal with some sex and a restful night's sleep with no hangover the next morning lol.

Overall, it was really nice. And what was even better was I felt we got some things resolved without having to wait another year.

I learned a lot this past year, and I'm not sure what went on with everyone else, but I must say this year was no where near peaches and creme. Especially the last few months of it. But we got through it and hopefully 2007 brings joy, adventure, and new exciting experiences into all of our lives. Good luck! <3
